We are honoured to announce that the 2023 Oakridge 864 Funder & Diamond Drive Block Chardonnay has been awarded Victoria’s highest state wine accolade: the perpetual Premier’s Trophy.

An initiative of the Victorian Wine Show—presented with the support of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and Global Victoria—the Premier’s Trophy serves as the ultimate benchmark for the state’s wine industry. The rigorous selection process brings together the grand champion, best-of-show winning wines from across Victoria’s eleven distinct regional wine shows to compete in a definitive, blind “taste-off” to find the best of the best.

This year’s historic win was determined by an elite independent panel of wine industry experts, including Steve Flamstead (Yarra Valley), Joshua Cooper (Macedon Ranges), Matt Harrop (Strathbogie Ranges), and Jen Pfeiffer (Rutherglen).

Reflecting on the caliber of the 2023 vintage, the judging panel noted that the wine stood out amidst exceptional competition, demonstrating a masterful balance of true regional and varietal typicity seamlessly married to an intense, sustained depth on the palate.

Our Senior Winemaker, Tim Dexter, was in attendance at Parliament House to receive the perpetual trophy. As a celebrated winner, the 2023 864 Funder & Diamond Chardonnay will be showcased and poured at official Parliament House events over the coming twelve months, representing the depth, breadth, and premium standard of Victorian viticulture.
