Description: Great lift and intensity with of aromatics lime blossom, fresh grapefruit citrus and green apple with a hint of white nectarine. Notes of celery leaf, spice and gun flint reduction adds complexity. The palate is bright, flavour some and driven with a wave of citrus fruit flowing along a lemon like acid line. Texture from time on lees in barrel and time in bottle add layers to the wine with a remarkable length of flavour and purity.
Winemaking Notes: A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 months maturation on lees.
Growing Conditions: This wine was sourced from the north facing Henk Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock..

A cool, long vintage with abundant rainfall and very low cropping levels has resulted in wines of great purity and high natural acidities.

From a single vineyard in Woori Yallock, from 2008 plantings of 95 clone. Hand picked and whole-bunch pressed to puncheons for maturation and fermentation. A bright green gold, this is immediately engaging and open with its aromas of white peach, white flowers and preserved lemons. With its superb purity of fruit, I love the way the acidity cuts through the wine, giving it backbone and length. All the 2020 Vineyard Series chardonnays are subtle variations on a theme, with the Henk being my pick today. They all completely over-deliver for the price, too.
