Vibrant purple-red. Pure fruited with fresh blackberry, blackcurrant and ripe plum, hints of sage, violets and leaf. Uncluttered. The palate is juicy and smooth, with very fine tannins that leave a pleasant powdery aftertaste, adding to the sense of refreshment. While not overly complex, there is genuine persistence of flavour. Lovely, fruit forward and early drinking.
100% handpicked grapes were destemmed to stainless steel fermenters for fermentation with selected yeasts. Spending between 3 to 4 weeks on skins before pressing to French oak barriques, 30% of which were new. The wine was matured in barrel for a period of 10 months prior to blending and bottling after a single filtration.
A warm, dry early season after good spring rains has resulted in excellent crops, delivered to the winery in near perfect harvesting conditions. Resulting wines display a freshness and vibrancy with strong varietal flavours.
