Pale straw in colour with a subtle onion skin hue.
Fruit to the fore with aromas of pear, fuji apples and lemonade citrus, fused in with subtle flint and floral notes.
The palate is fresh yet textural, with flavours of poached pear, apple and a hint of pink grapefruit. The sweetness is balanced with a citrus like acid line and the slight phenolic note adds complexity and persistence of flavor.
Hand picked 5 week after the primary crop in late March to concentrate the flavours and add complexity. The fruit was whole bunch pressed to tank for fermentation with selected yeasts on full solids the ferment was then arrested once the desired sugar level was reached. A single filtration was conducted prior to bottling.
A blend of 75% Pinot Gris sourced from our north facing Hazeldene vineyard in Gladsydale and 25% Riesling from the Five Oaks vineyard in Seville.
