All grapes hand harvested and sorted prior to tipping directly fermenter for whole bunch fermentation. After a three day cold maceration, fermentation spontaneously commenced peaking at 32°C. The fermenter was neither plunged nor pumped over during a three week fermentation. The wine was then pressed to French oak barrels for a 14 month maturation before blending and bottling.
Situated in Australia’s Yarra Valley, Oakridge has been producing quality wine since 1978. Simply named from our address at Coldstream, the 864 range is a showcase of highly detailed micro-selections from the most exceptional single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley.
Oakridge Vineyard, Winery Block. North-facing at 90 meters above sea level. Planted in the grey alluvial loams of Coldstream in 1996 to the PT23 clone and cropped at 6t/Ha.
A warmer than average growing season with abundant rainfall and low crops. Flowering occurred in November, fruit set in early January and and harvest on March 12th at 12.5° baume.
