Intensely aromatic and complex with mineral/flint, layers of white stone fruit, citrus, hints of spice and burnt match. Textural and concentrated with a driving acidity that adds both line and length.
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 month maturation on lees.
This wine was sourced from the north facing Henk vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock.
A warm spring and mild summer has resulted in excellent crops and ideal harvesting conditions. The wines have outstanding depth of flavour and structure.
"It's no coincidence that all three of the Oakridge Vineyard Series Chardonnays come from the Upper Yarra - it is higher and cooler, and was the perfect place for the very warm vintage. The bouquet is slightly richer than Barkala and Hazeldene, and the palate follows suit. Drink this first (although there's no hurry)"
