Oakridge Wines is delighted to announce it’s inclusion in the 2022 Halliday Wine Companion Awards Shortlist for‘Winery of the Year’. This recognition is yet another amazing result for the Oakridge winemaking team, led byChief Winemaker David Bicknell.
The 2022 Shortlist represents the best winemakers, viticulturists and wineries that Australia has to offer. For the first time, judging for this year’s Halliday Wine Companion Awards was conducted by the full Halliday TastingTeam. All seven tasters were invited to nominate candidates from their respective regions for all 17 awards categories. The winners were then devised through a series of tastings and round-table discussions, meaning each title awarded isthe result of a truly collaborative effort.
Of Oakridge’s inclusion in the ‘Winery of the Year’ shortlist the judging team noted:“There’s no question that Dave Bicknell is a cracking winemaker. His prowess with chardonnay is well celebrated, reinforced by no fewer than six gold-medal scoring chardonnays in this edition. That he can back this with similarlyrating pinot noir, syrah and even gris and rosé is what puts Oakridge in the running for Winery of the Year. Clever fruit sourcing, even in the competitive environment of the Yarra, matched with intuitive and attentive winemaking makes for a stunning line-up of no fewer than 20 reviews above 93 points this year”The 2022 Halliday Wine Companion Awards will be held on Thursday, August 12.
For the first time ever, the Halliday Wine Companion are asking wine lovers to get involved and vote for their favourite Australian winery. Have your say and submit your vote below before July 31. The winning winery will be announced on August 7.
