GQ Chef of the Year 2019 Oakridge Executive Chef Matt Stone
Last night topped off of an exceptional year for Oakridge with Executive Chef, Matt Stone named ‘Chef of the Year’ at GQ’s 2019 Men of the Year Awards.
Held at the Park Hyatt, Sydney, the awards are an annual event hosted by GQ Australia that recognise and celebrate the triumphs of Australia’s best men and women.
GQ cited Matt’s innovation in the kitchen and his passion for sustainable methods of food production as an example that all Australians can follow in making sure they’re sourcing their dinner as sustainably as possible: “Matt Stone is thinking not just about the future of food, but about the future of our planet, too, and that’s why he got the nod as GQ’s Chef of the Year”
Accepting the award, Matt said: “I’d most like to thank my partner, Jo Barrett. Her and I run the restaurant together, we do everything together, we work together, and I wouldn’t have the chance to do what I do or be the young man that I am without her support. Thank you all!”
During the awards ceremony, guests also enjoyed a bespoke four-course menu designed by Matt and matched to Oakridge wines.
Congratulations to Matt and to all winners!
