Halliday Gives Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Willowlake Chardonnay 97 Points

James Halliday is an Australian wine critic and writer, winemaker, senior Wine Companion judge and one of the most respected voices on the Australian wine scene. Halliday tastes and reviews different wine varietals from all over Australia, of all price ranges, and his tasting notes have fast become an invaluable guide to the best Australian wine.

He recently tasted and rated our Local Vineyard Series Willowlake Vineyard Chardonnay 97 points, out of a possible 100.

From the Upper Yarra, Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed direct to French puncheons for wild fermentation followed by 10 months maturation. The Willowlake Vineyard is the oldest in the Upper Yarra, and one of the oldest in the entire Valley,” Halliday says of our Chardonnay, “This wine has a vibrancy, an edge, giving it a mouthfeel and set of flavours firmly anchored on grapefruit, which the Barkala Ridge doesn’t have. Great success for the vintage.”
