2008 Oakridge Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Dark red with a distinct purple hue.
Nose: Immediately, varietal cabernet – blackcurrant and blueberry, some redcurrants then pencil lead, cedar, dried tobacco, black olive and violets. Oak is bit part player showing pie-like vanilla notes and light brown spice.
Palate: Distinctly medium bodied, almost gentle, with soft supple tannins. Despite this, there is a richness to the middle and intensity of flavor again driven by the black fruit elements, and finishing with a wonderful savory, almost briny tang. This is a refined, classic Yarra Valley Cabernet.
Oak Treatment: A combination of new and old French barriques for 16 months.
