Winemaker Dux of the 2005 Len Evans Tutorial
Oakridge winemaker David Bicknell has been awarded the Qantas Scholarship for finishing Dux of the 2005 Len Evans Wine Tutorial. The prestigious 5 day wine course has been described as the best wine finishing school in the world, where only 12 applicants are accepted from hundreds of applicants each year, including overseas. In the tutorials, the scholars benchmark their judging skills against the Australian wine industry stalwarts - Evans, Halliday, Croser, McKenzie and Riggs. The tutorials are followed by blind tasting sessions of wines from all over the globe, where the scholars must determine the origin of the selected wines. David described the win as "a total surprise as I was ecstatic to just be accepted to the course".
