Oakridge 2006 Chardonnay Spins more Gold and Trophies

Oakridge continued it's extraordinary run of success last Friday night, 5th October, at the 2007 New Zealand Liquorland Top 100 Wine Show. The winery was awarded an incredible 3 trophies for its 2006 Oakridge Chardonnay. The wine received the Trophy for Champion Chardonnay of the Show, Champion White Wine of the Show and then went on to be awarded the overall Trophy for Champion Wine of the Show. David Bicknell, Chief Winemaker at Oakridge, who was present to receive the trophies commented, "We knew the wine had done reasonably well but weren't expecting the results that were announced. As with all our wines we sourced the Chardonnay grapes from their most suitable site in the Yarra, and have let the fruit quality do the talking without too much winemaking interference. This is a pretty spectacular wine, though I could be biased!" It is an outstanding achievement for David and the winemaking team at Oakridge, who remain focused on the production of handcrafted, elegant wines. Since it's release in July 2007, the 2006 Oakridge Chardonnay has been awarded 6 trophies and 4 gold medals. The wine achieved a similar trifecta result at the 2007 Royal Queensland Wine Show where it received the trophies for Best Chardonnay, Best White Wine and then went onto be awarded Champion Wine in the Show.
